We Want to Be Your Building Company
We are a residential construction company who moved to Palm Beach County in 1977 from Central Florida. Our original purpose was to build modestly priced housing to meet the increased demand in Palm Beach County. We have been and are still building cost-efficient, affordable single-family homes in spot locations. However now we are also building larger models which include many more options and upgrades.
We do not develop subdivisions. We have been successful purchasing existing residential lots from private owners and designing models that are not only cost-efficient but also designed to be energy efficient.
Though we still build in town, we are now concentrating on an area west of town called "The Acreage". We offer two series of homes there. The Florida Flair models that run from 1398 sq. ft living area to 1646 sq. ft living area and the Renaissance models starting from 1931 sq. ft to 2618 sq ft living area. These models can be seen with specifications and floor plans by clicking onto the "Models" at the top of the web page. We also build all of these models on your improved lot.
Our Model Center is located at 11892 Orange Blvd. It is very close to the intersection of Royal Palm Beach Blvd. and Orange. We have plenty of off street parking and we invite you to stop by and visit our decorated model at your convenience. We are open seven days a week. You may call 561-790-7054 for opening times. Our Model center displays the Venice I Model with the 9' beam. This model is in the Renaissance class, however it has been decorated in such a manner that shows a few upgrades so customers can see what they look like and pick the ones they might like in their home.
We have also opened an office in Port St. Lucie, FL., just 50 minutes drive from West Palm Beach. Our homes there are built on lots around 10,000 sq. ft. The home sizes run from 1561 to 2553 sq. ft. living area with two and three car garage. Our Model Center is located at the corner of Bayshore Blvd. and Hamburg Ter. (590 Hamburg Ter.) You can click onto St. Lucie County on this web page to obtain more information on the area.
James B. Moore Companies of Florida is a confederation of real estate holdings (rental properties) and construction companies owned by James Moore. The construction company for residential construction is known as Moore & Coates Construction Inc., owned by Moore and Matt Coates, Mr. Moore's stepson.
Moore & Coates Construction Inc. has been able to place their homes on the market for good value for three reasons:
- The ability to find the right financing to meet the needs of the permanent loan customer.
- he ability to negotiate lower prices with subcontractors and building suppliers due to the fact the firm pays all bills on time, thus receiving discounts plus a good reputation for stability.
- Lastly, the ability to keep their overhead down to a bare minimum, thus passing these savings on to our customers.
We will not take on more work than we can properly supervise. We will not begin hiring people in order to take on additional customers. Our philosophy is to keep small, keep the price down and keep the quality control as high as our hand on approach dictates.
James B. Moore began in the construction business in 1966. After graduating from Missouri State University, he began working for Southeastern Home Mortgage Company as a property manager in the West Palm Beach area. In 1969, Moore, while employed by Southeastern, developed Medowbrook Mobile Home Park, one of the first parks ever to construct its own par three golf course meandering through its trees.
In 1972, Moore went into business for himself, building homes in Altamonte Springs, then branching out to Brevard County. There he constructed 71 homes in a subdivision known as Cocoa North. In Orlando, he developed and sold out successfully two subdivisions known as San Sebastian and Northwood.
In 1975, while those projects were just winding down, Moore expanded to Hillsborough County successfully completing Kingsway Downs, Groves North and Meadowridge, over 500 homes in all.
In 1977, Moore began a development known as CAM Estates on Belvedere Road in Palm Beach County. By 1981, he successfully completed 300 award-winning homes financed through FHA and VA, one of the first in the county completely financed in this manner. CAM Estates was marketed with great fanfare such as champagne previews and Grand Openings including award winning ceremonies and introductions to the new product line. Contracts for 150 homes were written in the first year.
During the 1980's, Moore built 30 homes in Woodcrest on Belvedere Road, 13 homes in Presidential Estates in the $300-$400 thousand dollar range and over 200 moderately priced homes in and around Palm Beach County. At the completion of CAM Estates, Bob Wooster ended his tenure as project manager and joined the firm as a full partner, thus the name Wooster-Moore Construction Corp.
During the 1990's Wooster and Moore built over 1500 modestly priced homes from Delray to Jupiter.
Mr. Wooster retired from the business in May 2001. He sold all interest in the corporation to Moore allowing the company to bring on board Moore's son, Matt Coates. Matt actually had been on staff with the company since August 1999. He has been actively involved in running the field and looking for new building lots. Matt's a graduate of The Citadel-Charleston, SC, graduating 12th in a class of 375 cadets.
He has completed 6 years of military service including 2 years with the 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment also graduating from the Army Special Forces Group. He is now serving as a Captain with the 3rd Battalion 20th Special Forces Group, Florida National Guard.
Matt's discipline and leadership qualities are a tremendous asset to the firm's quality control as well as keeping the completion of construction on time. He has the respect of the subcontractors as well as the building inspectors. In December of 2002 Matt became executive vice president. At this time the firm changed its name to Moore & Coates Construction, Inc. Matt's duties in addition to overseeing the area of operations are to find new building lots for our customers. His primary function is to head up the area known as "The Acreage". Sales and marketing, construction and the financing for inventory homes as well as for consumer end loans are Matt's responsibilities.
In 1998 Moore joined with a group of local business leaders to organize a new community bank for the West Palm Beach area and is a director with the Bank. The new bank was to be named Grand Bank of Florida. It opened in 1999 with one branch at 2055 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. in West Palm. At this writing it has grown to four branches and has added a Trust division. The Bank is now called Grand Bank & Trust of Florida. For more information about the Bank or Trust you can call our President J. Russell Greene at 561-615-5050 or go on to the web page grandbankflorida.com.
